I heard the very rare recording of Virginia Woolf reading her work last night in BBC. Just like you, I struggled with her works, the whole bunch, while I was in school, so it felt very funny to hear her voice actually reading. She was the very case of ‘voices’ that she could not really stop hearing all the damaging sounds, which mostly consisted of voices heard in her consciousness interminably. I guess I initially picked up her work because I had the same thing as youth, or forever, just like you do. To break out the cycle, people do so many things, some like Woolf write so that thay would not have to listen to what those voices say to them. Others, like myself, go sell sex and drugs. My very favorite of among all the AMAZING masterpieces were Between the acts and Orlando as well as her essays. Did you kill the angel at home by smashing an ink bottle at it? I guess I have not. Not yet.
